What Google said in October

In an 1 October 2026 Google Ads post, the team advised Demand Gen advertisers to start with usable social assets, explore newer Asset Studio video creation features where available and make gradual, data-driven creative changes. It highlighted a product capability rather than promising every existing social image will become an effective video. Eligibility, output quality and asset specifications must still be checked.

The 15-second version

Plan four beats before opening an editor: 0–3 seconds name the problem or show the result; 3–8 demonstrate the benefit; 8–12 present the differentiator or proof; 12–15 show the call to action. These timings are a creative starting point, not a platform-imposed formula. Ensure key information works with sound muted where practical.

The 30-second version

For a more considered offer, add context instead of repetition. The first five seconds should establish the hook and audience. Use the middle portion to explain the problem, show the product in use, and address an objection. End with one clear action and a landing page that repeats the promise accurately.

Aspect ratio and safe-area planning

A square static advertisement and a landscape YouTube video need different crops. Prepare 1:1, 9:16 and 16:9 concepts as appropriate to each placement and verify current Google specifications before uploading. Do not assume important captions remain visible after an automatic crop. Use our image ratio inspector and resizer to prepare raw creative safely in the browser.

How to test meaningful changes

Start with a single question, such as whether a product demonstration performs better than a lifestyle-led opening. Keep the audience, destination and conversion event reasonably comparable and record dates, creative versions and outcomes. Changes to budgets or landing pages during a test make interpretation harder. Our creative test planner creates a lightweight CSV plan for a disciplined review.

Production checklist

  1. Confirm that any music, product photography, client logos and synthetic assets are cleared for use.
  2. Write a storyboard and identify the essential hook and call to action.
  3. Export at suitable quality without adding unreadable text.
  4. Check first and last frames on actual phones.
  5. Match the landing page to the ad’s claim and monitor qualified outcomes, not just views.
